Ling - Spirit

The Chinese character for spirit is Ling. It is drawn as the rains of Heaven falling into the mouths of three shaman women who are dancing between heaven and earth.

They are offering up their hopes to the heavens in order to bring the rains of prosperity to the earth to bring creativity and fertility to life. As they pray and dance, they receive the inspirations and wisdom of the gods.

Ingredients

  • Rest when your body asks for it and practice rest in multiple forms.

  • During daylight hours, go outside and remind yourself you are part of nature. Nature changes the way you experience yourself.

  • Practicing mindfulness: Engage in all your activities fully and slowly.

  • Using complementary therapies like acupuncture, herbal medicine, dietary therapy and yoga can help balance the Five Shen / spirits.

  • The key to this life is the heart and the value of this life lies within it. Explore through your days in a way that feels right in your own heart.

  • Your mind holds the key so explore meditation. Nurturing happens through focus on the internal landscape without leaving the external landscape out.

When we live our lives with this grace and presence, then we too receive these gifts. Our lives become filled with the vibrant spirit of life. There are many points along the body that connects us to these gifts that flow between heaven and earth. If we are truly centred and present when we work with our bodies, we touch this open place between Heaven and Earth. We bring healing into the body in the same way rain brings alive the earth. We can bring back joy, wonder, health and wholeness where there was ones dis-ease.
